On a quiet bay in the Gulf Islands, a simple cabin is becoming a forever home. Set against the shoreline, the house draws on the textures of its surroundings, with durable, natural materials forming the palette and vaulted ceilings opening the rooms to light and air.
Designing Canal meant rethinking a modest cabin so it could carry the weight of daily life. We looked at how the rooms connect, where light enters, and how materials would shape both comfort and longevity. Every decision was made with care, working closely with the build team to ensure the house grows from a retreat into a lasting home. In a place this remote, every decision has to be right the first time.
