Q&A
My most memorable moments growing up can all be summed up by spending time with my family. Whether it was on the East Coast gathering around the table to play a game of cards or right here in Squamish walking next door to my grandma’s house to sit outside and have a cup of tea, it was always with family. This everyday closeness and connection is why I love residential design – creating spaces that bring people together and feel truly lived in.
While the creative aspect was fun, I also enjoyed learning the technical side of interior design – like space planning and AutoCAD, it gave me the tools I needed to bring my visions into the real world. Of course, what made the time even more meaningful was sharing it with my friends who went through the journey alongside me.
Space planning is my favourite stage of the design process because it feels like solving a puzzle – figuring out how to fit everything together just right. I love the challenge of creating a layout that not only looks great but also functions perfectly for the clients’ unique needs and lifestyle.
My ideal project would be one with no creative boundaries – where the clients are open to playful ideas and pushing the limits in every direction, whether that’s through bold materials, unconventional shapes or unique structural details. I would love to turn wild concepts into functional, one-of-a-kind spaces.
Flying would be my ideal superpower because it gives you total freedom of movement – you could go anywhere without traffic, borders or obstacles. I love to travel so this would be the ultimate way to explore the world on your own terms, plus it would save on travel costs!
