Q&A
The smell of the air on our farm after the rain in Autumn. It was always a sign that the hot summers were behind us and colder weather, which I still love, is just around the corner.
Design studio sessions where there seemed to be too much excitement and inspiration that could comfortably fit within any one room. Oh, and our Friday afternoon lectures that would migrate to the neighbouring beer garden. Our lecturers figured we weren’t coming back after lunch and would continue the class at the pub.
Above all, I like learning the intricacies about each client. Technically that’s not a “stage” as we learn all the way through the process. Early in the concept design stage is always exciting, getting to collaborate with Architects to finalize layouts (those who understand how beneficial it is to the project to have us engaged early enough!).
It is hard to narrow it down to just one. I’m guessing it will be my very last one, well into “retirement” and for the absolute worst client ever, myself (I like a challenge). Perhaps a minimalist holiday house, overlooking the rugged western coastline of the Eyre Peninsula where I grew up. I want to create a space that I leave behind for my family to enjoy, remember me and create long lasting memories.
Time travel. It would offer so many opportunities to learn more about myself and my ancestors. Plus, I’d really like to see into the future to determine how truly messed up we are making the world for our younger generations.
