Q&A
Summer holidays with family in the Haute-Savoie region of France where we spent all our time outdoors, hiking, climbing + dining alfresco.
Blue sky thinking (followed by boiling down the concept to an achievable goal). Working with mentors, including my father
Big picture – The broad strokes of concept design at the beginning of a project. Minutiae – Arranging where and how items are stored in a kitchen.
My first reaction would be…A project in a beautiful location, surrounded by nature - allowing the surrounding elements to influence the spatial flow and palette of a home. But however tempting it is to say a project with no boundaries, unlimited budget and any style which captures my fancy, I’ve always had a practical nature and work best when a brief is set. I enjoy the challenge of working within project restrictions. Whether it be a complex layout or a particular aesthetic. This is what makes each project unique and tailored to the client. Sometimes our greatest challenges turn into the greatest design opportunities. And no matter the design, the one constant to an ideal project is a great team!
To control the weather…providing us with bottomless powder snow on a ski day and glorious sun for camping weekends.
